FIRST EDITION OF THE SHENZHEN VERBIER FESTIVAL 2026.

Shenzhen, China | January 30 – February 8, 2026

January 28, 2026 — The Verbier Festival opens a new chapter in its history with the launch of the Shenzhen Verbier Festival 2026, marking the Festival’s very first edition in China. Over the course of ten days, the Festival will present 31 concerts and 7 public masterclasses, featuring symphonic programmes, chamber music, recitals, and educational activities.

From January 30 to February 8, 2026, the Shenzhen Concert Hall, together with the Shenzhen Longgang International Art Centerofficially inaugurated on the occasion of the Opening Concert of the Shenzhen Verbier Festival—will host this winter edition, bringing the artistic standards of the Verbier Festival, its spirit of excellence, and its commitment to transmission to the heart of one of China’s most dynamic megacities.

“With the Shenzhen Verbier Festival, the aim is not simply to present concerts abroad, but to extend a way of thinking about music. Bringing together great artists, young talents, and audiences in the same spirit of openness, exchange, and shared experience that has defined the Verbier Festival since its beginnings. From an exceptional alpine destination in Switzerland to one of Asia’s most forward-looking cities, the Shenzhen Verbier Festival is an invitation to dialogue, allowing a singular musical culture to engage in dialogue with a region shaping the future.”
— Martin Engstroem, Founder & Co-CEO, Verbier Festival

The programme reflects the DNA of the Verbier Festival, bringing together some of the world’s leading international performers while offering a platform for artistic development and intergenerational dialogue, within a coherent and thoughtfully curated artistic journey.

At the heart of the Festival, the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra (VFCO), celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, under the Musical Direction of Gábor Takács-Nagy, will play a central role through several major symphonic programmes, featuring works by Dvořák, Schumann, Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, and Saint-Saëns, alongside leading soloists. The Festival will welcome an exceptional artistic lineup, including Yuja Wang, Lang Lang, Mikhaïl Pletnev, Bruce Liu, Denis Kozhukhin, among others, as well as Janine Jansen, Joshua Bell, Daniel Lozakovich, Marc Bouchkov, Alexandra Conunova, Paloma So, Blythe Teh Engstroem, Timothy Ridout, Mischa Maisky, Gautier Capuçon, Daniel Blendulf, and Bryn Terfel. Public masterclasses will be led by Timothy Ridout, Gautier Capuçon, Mischa Maisky, Gábor Takács-Nagy, and Minsoo Sohn.
